Robbie Williams is the Justin Timberlake of Europe

Except for the fact that Europe is majorly “in-live” with Justin Timberlake and America never really fell “in-love” with Robbie Williams.

Aside from that they both have had incredible commercial success as solo artists.

Both gentlemen came from a boy band background and both were the most successful of their former boy-band bandmates. They both had majorly publisized relationships with other female artist. Timberlake had Britney Spears and Williams had Nicole Appleton from All Saints.

In 1999 Robbie Williams had his big “coming out” party in America – the Gig: Show Closer of the MTV video awards. He sung his hit song “Millenium” – already a huge hit in England but barely broke the top 20 in the US. Since the song was already a massive hit in the UK so I think Robbie’s expectations were off that night.

When he was announced, he came down this faux airplane staircase dressed like a captain of an American Eagle regional jet. Walking out kinda smug – he was “ready to be greeted by his adoring fans”.  I Think the concept was supposed to be a James Bond kinda thing – but it didn’t really work.

The song was ok and the people liked it enough – but it wasn’t like when Madonna or Prince close the show in other years…But at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter because  Europe still loves Robbie as much as they do Justin and he still gets all the same spoils such as this sporty new Cartier Santos 100 watch Robbie is wearing..
